What is the Typhoid Test Kit? Uses, Benefits & Results

Typhoid, popularly known as typhoid fever, is a disease caused by the intake of contaminated food or water. It is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. Some of its symptoms are headache, body pain, fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea. A typhoid test kit is made with the aim of detecting these bacteria. These bacteria can be detected in blood, urine and stool samples. Early detection of this infection can help in swift treatment and prevent a hazardous disease. In this blog, we will go through the typhoid test kit, its types, uses, benefits and result interpretation.

Types of Typhoid Test Kits

Typhoid test kits are designed to identify even the slightest bacteria found in the sample. There are basically two types of typhoid test kits:

Antigen-based Tests: The antigen-based tests are designed to identify specific proteins secreted by antigens present in the sample.

Antibody-based Tests: The antibody-specific test identifies the antibodies produced by the body in response to a particular antigen.

Detection of antigens also depends upon the quality of the test kit. To ensure the top quality of rapid test kits, choose Rosewell Remedies. We are a leading rapid test kits supplier in India. Mechanism of the Typhoid IgG/IGM Test Kit

A lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay is used to detect Salmonella Typhi in the sample. The card contains a sample pad, conjugate pad, and another pad containing S.typhi S and O antigens. The card has two lines named G and M. The test line G is coated with anti-human IgG, and the M region is coated with anti-human IgM. When the specimen is added to the test kit, the antibodies attach to the antigens and form distinct lines.

Result Interpretation in the Typhoid Test Kit

The test result is positive if you spot two lines on the card. One line must be on the control region, and one either on the M region or on the G region.

The test will be negative if there is only one line on the card. This line will appear only in the control region of the card.

If there are three lines on the card, one in the IgG test region, one in the IgM test region, and one in the control region, then the sample is positive for both IgG and IgM.

The result will be marked as invalid if no line can be spotted. This may be due to the wrong procedure or dried reagent.

                          Conclusion

Typhoid is a disease that causes significant harm to the human gut. It stems from the consumption of heavily contaminated food, water and sometimes milk. It uses a small number of specimens and can give results in less than 20 minutes. Roswell Remedies is the most trusted typhoid IgM test kit supplier in India.
