Temozolomide capsules are mainly prescribed to treat aggressive forms of brain tumors, such as glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma. They progress faster and are hard to diagnose, making treatment a challenge. Temozolomide is used as a first line of treatment in combination with radiotherapy and monotherapy. After intake, it transforms into its active form and crosses the blood-brain barrier. It attacks the cells and destroys the DNA of the cancer cell. It stops their multiplication and triggers cell death. This pathway makes it the best option for brain cancer treatment.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, constipation, and appetite loss are common side effects that are typically treatable with supportive treatment. Mild headaches and hair loss are also common complaints. One of the most serious side effects is suppression of bone marrow activity, which leads to a decrease in blood cell counts. It weakens the immune system and increases the risk of infection.
