Purpose and Mechanism
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone produced after the implantation of an embryo into the mother's womb and also by the placenta. Therefore, after conception, hCG appears in urine samples at standard rates, which later on increase. Hence, it serves as a reliable indicator of pregnancy. Elevated hCG levels are also associated with diseases and tumors, so they must be evaluated before a positive pregnancy. Our pregnancy test kit features a conjugate pad containing anti-β hCG (monoclonal antibody) along with a sample filter pad. It also includes a test line that has anti-α hCG (monoclonal antibody) positioned on a chromatographic membrane, a control line with goat anti-mouse IgG, and a filter pad designed to absorb any excess fluid. The appearance of two visible lines confirms the presence of hCG in the urine sample and indicates an active pregnancy.
