Pomalidomide is used to treat multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects the plasma cells present in the bone marrow. This therapy is used on patients who have failed prior treatment and relapsed. It aims to control cancer progression, reduce tumor burden, and improve patient outcomes in this relapsed condition. It works by enhancing the body’s immune response, increasing anti-cancer activity, stopping angiogenesis, and inducing cancer cell death.

Side Effects

There are many adverse effects, with varying degrees of severity. It may cause rash, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, constipation, dizziness, cough, shortness of breath, peripheral neuropathy, low white blood cell count, increased risk of infection, nerve damage, allergic reactions, anemia, fatigue, liver function changes, and a risk of blood clots.
