Imatinib tablets are foremost used to cure numerous types of cancers, such as chronic myeloid leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, skin cancer, gastrointestinal stromal cancer, etc. This medication targets bcr-abl tyrosine kinase, a crucial protein involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells. Imatinib inhibits the production of this protein and instead induces cell death. This results in slow advancement or complete eradication of cancer.

Side Effects

There are few mild side effects associated with Imatinib, such as nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, diarrhea, swelling, rash, and fatigue. Some of the serious adverse effects are breathing issues, bleeding, abdominal pain, cough, dry eye, dizziness, and hemorrhage. Immediate medical attention is necessary for these effects.
