Purpose and Mechanism

The HCV Ab card is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the detection of antibodies generated by the human body against specific proteins encoded by parts of the Hepatitis C Virus genome. Our HCV rapid test is based on the principle of a lateral flow chromatographic assay using the double sandwich technique. The membrane present on the card contains recombinant HCV antigens (core, NS3, NS4, and NS5) in the test region. For control, goat anti-mouse IgG is immobilized at the end of the membrane. When the specimen reacts with the antigens, it creates lines.

User Guide

• Bring the specimen and card to room temperature.
• Remove the card from the pouch and lay it on a flat surface.
• Fill the sample well with approximately 30 µL of the specimen.
• After that, add 60 µl of assay buffer immediately into the sample well.
• Keep the card aside for 15-20 minutes before interpreting the results.

Interpretation

• Negative: If only one line at the control region is visible, then the result is negative for HCV.
• Positive: If, in addition to the control line, one more line appears on the test region (T), then the test is positive for HCV.
• Invalid: A total absence of any line on the card indicates an error in the procedure or deterioration of the reagent.
