Dengue Antigen NS1 Test Kit

Purpose and Mechanism

Dengue antibody NS1 test kits are used for the rapid detection of dengue antigen NS1 in human blood serum/plasma. Dengue is a prevalent infection in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. It is a fatal disease due to its morbidity and mortality rates. There are four distinct types of dengue viruses, namely dengue viruses 1, 2, 3, and 4. NS1 is a glycoprotein found in dengue-infected persons during the early days of infection. The card contains a membrane pre-coated with an anti-dengue NS1 monoclonal antibody in the test region and goat anti-mouse IgG in the control region. As the specimen flows, if it contains dengue NS1 antigens, it will form a complex called an antibody-antigen-gold conjugate, which moves laterally on the membrane. This will create a distinct line on the card in addition to a control line.

User Guide

• Let the kit and specimen come to room temperature.
• Remove the card from the pouch and place it on a flat surface.
• Add 50-75 µL of the specimen to the sample well on the card.
• Let the card sit for 20 minutes and then interpret the results.

Interpretation

• Negative: Appearance of a single line on the control region indicates a negative result for the dengue antigen NS1.
• Positive NS1: If there are two lines, one in the test region and one in the control region, then the result is positive for dengue antigen.
• Invalid: If the card has no line, the reagent has either degraded or there was a mistake in the execution during the test.
