Capecitabine is an oral chemotherapy drug. It has multiple applications, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and stomach cancer. It is often used at advanced stages, where the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. It is used in conjunction with numerous other chemotherapy medications to improve treatment. It is administered after a surgery or when other treatments have failed. The treatment pathway activates after ingestion and conversion to its active form. The drug targets and kills the actively dividing cancer cell. Resulting in lowered disease progression and improved survival rate.
